2018 was a wet one. Record-setting rainfall levels for almost the entire trail season had left trail locals all over the northeast feeling a bit bewildered, and frankly, pretty frustrated. Fortunately, the jams we host at Posh and Catty are a catalyst for great times no matter what the weather throws at us. When there is a small army of visiting trail shredders eager to get the trails running by any means necessary, the trails are likely going to run in any weather short of a Category 4 hurricane!
On Saturday, May 11, 2019, the Action Wheels Bike Shop hosted their fifth annual Hosed Jam at the Bethlehem Skateplaza. Merritt BMX also held a meet-up and Skatepark session that coincided with the event bringing out some of the Merritt crew to mix it up with the locals for the day. Jess Grinager was on hand to document the event and dropped this video on his YouTube channel a few days ago. Click play and get hosed!
The woods of Catasauqua, PA were filled with changing leaves, witches, cowboys, and 20 inch bicycles for the weekend of October 20th, 2018. Pennsylvania’s summer rainstorms have wreaked havoc on many trail riding sessions. This weekend was the perfect opportunity to make up for lost time, laps were never-ending and many riders rode into dusk, holding on to any last bit of sunshine.
The 3rd annual ‘Schwantz Best Trick Contest’ was absolute mayhem, including Decades, Double Whips, a Big Daddy Bike Transfer and celebrity judging from Cory Nastazio. John Beutner of Indiana pulled the win with a 180 Lookback.
A new contest added to the Halloween Jam this year was ‘High Air on Boomers’ and the competition was fierce! Mere inches separated competitors; Cody Diggs, Clint Reynolds and John Beutner, but in the end Cody Diggs pulled off the win.

Justin Care and Brandon Begin were on hand during the event while Action Wheels owner Scott Effting documented the action. We are proud to announce that Ride PA BMX – Issue #1 is now available through our online store. Issue one is composed of sixty pages of original content spanning the Spring / Summer of 2017 as documented by a variety of contributors and is printed on 5.5” X 8.5” gloss pages in full color. Supplies are limited. A second and final run of the zine will be available in a few weeks and a digital version will be available online free after the second run is sold out. On August 20th, the second annual Ghetto Park Jam was held in memory of Jimi Fritz and Andrew Keegan. The event was hosted by Aeden Fehr and sponsored by Action Wheels Bike Shop. The footage from the jam has since remained unreleased until today when the video was publicly opened through the 2Dodgy Youtube page which says the video was actually uploaded back on October 9th. Setbacks aside, the edit comes through with two minutes of solid riding featuring Mike Waltrop, Joey Wall, Zach Llewlyn, Harry Bui, Aeden Fehr, Okie Doke and more. Filmed and edited by Scott Effting.
Action Wheels Bike Shop will be hosting their first annual Halloween Jam on Saturday, October 28th at the Keck Skatepark. The jam signifies the end of the annual 2Dodgy Halloween Jams as the torch has been passed on. The jam will begin at 4pm and is sponsored by Merritt, Animal Bikes, The Shadow Conspiracy, Daily Grind, S&M, Kink and many more. To coincide with National BMX Day, we are proud to announce the official launch of our new zine. Ride PA BMX Issue #1 will be available in mid to late August and spans the Spring / Summer of 2017. The zine is 5.5″ x 8.5″, printed in full color on gloss paper and features over 60 pages of original content from the Pennsylvania BMX scene. A digital release of the zine will also be available for free once copies of the zine have sold out.

The third annual Hosed Jam presented by Action Wheels Bike Shop was held on Sunday, May 21st at the Bethlehem Skateplaza. The event was hosted by Montana Ricky and organized by Scott Effting. Scott also filmed the event and turned out this edit which includes riding from Justin Care, Brad Weidlich, Okie Doke, Dylan Heckman, Anthony Rosario and many more.
Our good friend Scott Effting, who is an admin for us and also heads 2Dodgy, recently took over ownership of Action Wheels Bike Shop in Bethlehem. With Scott at the helm, the shop has already rolled out a new website and is holding a big “Spring Fever” sale April 24th through the 29th in addition to hosting the third annual “Hosed Jam” at the Bethlehem Skateplaza on May 21st. You can expect a lot of big things out of Scott and Action Wheels in the future and we want to wish him and the shop continued success.
